Arriving in “Tana”, your driver will meet you at the airport for your transfer to the hotel.

After breakfast, the adventure begins by taking the Nationale 7: crossing the Malagasy highlands sublimated by terraced rice fields, hamlets and herds of zebu cattle. First stop at Ambatolampy for a visit to the artisanal foundry where local cooking pots and utensils are made by hand. Then on to Antsirabe, the old colonial town, bustling with the comings and goings of rickshaws.

Still in the Malagasy highlands, we continue along the National Road 7 to Ambositra, the capital of Malagasy crafts, for a visit to a sculpture and marquetry workshop cultivating the ancestral art of the local Zafimaniry ethnic group. This know-how has been recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by Unesco. Continuation to Ranomafana.

Breakfast at the hotel, followed by a visit to Ranomafana National Park. The park’s landscape is largely made up of tropical rainforests. Alongside this lush vegetation are secondary formations that continue to expand within the park. The high humidity of Ranomafana’s climate means that the park is criss-crossed by numerous watercourses. These originate in the massif, then criss-cross the steep landscape or hills to give rise to magnificent cascades and spectacular waterfalls. They also create natural pools drowned in a dreamlike setting. Lemurs, birds and reptiles can also be observed. After a delicious lunch, continue on to Sahambavy.

Breakfast and departure for the Sahambavy tea plantation, the only one of its kind in Madagascar to date. A local plantation guide welcomes you and accompanies you on a tour of the plantations and the various machines to explain the different stages of tea processing. You’ll see how the leaves pass from machine to machine, until the final tea product is bagged and ready for export. After this visit, you’ll take the road back to the colonial town of Antsirabe.

This day, drive to the capital to enjoy the scenery and take time to taste the local cuisine. Arrive in Tana and visit the city of the Thousand: the Analakely market, the old railway station and its surroundings, the Avenue de l’Indépendance and the upper town to enjoy the sunset.

In partnership with Aïna Enfance et Avenir, the Escapades agency also offers you the chance to discover the work of a well-known association, whose ambition is to give Malagasy children a brighter future. This is not a simple visit or excursion, but a real insight into the day-to-day work of the association, accompanied by professionals who can answer all your questions. If you wish, you can bring children’s clothes (0-18 years), shoes, cuddly toys, children’s books (no school books), school supplies, toys (no batteries), household linen (sheets, towels, tea towels, etc.) from France to donate to the association (if you plan to make this discovery at the end of your stay, we can store them so you don’t have to carry them all over Madagascar).

Depending on your arrival at Ivato airport, you will be met by our driver-guide who will take you to your hotel. If you arrive during the day, you’ll be welcomed at our offices for a presentation of the trip, then settled in and spend the night at your hotel.

For your first day on Malagasy soil, we’ll take you and your driver to meet the Aïna Association, whose aim is to “reinvent the lives of these destitute children and mothers by helping them build a future for themselves”. You’ll have lunch on site with the children and mothers. In the afternoon, visit the city, its markets and the royal palace, weather permitting. End of the day and overnight at your hotel.

For this day, visit the small village of Ambatomanga «a typical village of the Highlands» in the east of the capital. Upon arrival, you are welcomed by the team of the Family House who then takes you to discover their income-generating activities (farm, cheese dairy, etc.). Lunch on site before the visit of weaving workshop with a village elder. The evening before dinner, we invite you to play Fanorona (a game typically Malagasy).

A half-day walk that takes you to the world of peasants of Ambatomanga. Free afternoon at your guest house and evening of sharing and exchange on the Famadihana. End of day and night on site.

First, we take you to discover Dieudonné and Violette’s ironworks… and its history. Along the way, we visit the aluminum foundry in Ambatolampy, where we learn just how hard the work is in Madagascar. On arrival, you are greeted by members of the Loharanosoa association. Welcome evening with the villagers and overnight in a rural gîte.

These two days will be devoted to immersion in the village of Anjazafotsy.
Morning : Participation in a project defined by the association that meets the villagers’ expectations for local development (creation or extension of a school, project to bring drinking water, etc.): part of the cost of your trip will be devoted to helping the villagers with these projects.
Afternoon: take part in the villagers’ daily activities: depending on the season, work in the fields, fishing, cooking workshops, flour-making workshops…
For the evening of day 6, an evening of culinary exchanges between travelers and villagers.
On the evening of Day 7, an evening of traditional singing and dancing with the villagers.

Morning awakening with the song of the birds to go and meet the first lemurs of this journey. Created in 1991, the park was included in the World Heritage Site of the Atsinanana Wetlands in 2007. A 3 to 5 hours’ walk allows you to discover several species of lemurs, birds and reptiles… In the afternoon, drive to Fianarantsoa and visit the old town before getting installed in your hotel.

After breakfast, we’ll take you to a street school run by the Vozama Association, as well as Le Relais Madagascar, where you’ll discover Malagasy cars and other solidarity activities. You then take the Nationale 7 to the village of Ranohira. Along the way, to stretch your legs, we suggest a stop at the Anjà community reserve, to help the villagers preserve the area and admire the Makis catta in their natural environment. This reserve served as a shelter for the Bara people in this region, and many traditional tombs can be seen here. Arrive in Ranohira in the late afternoon, watch the sun set over the Isalo window and spend the night at your hotel.

Day dedicated to the visit of the Isalo National Park. It presents many contrasts: sometimes canyons with dizzying walls, sometimes rocks with amazing shapes: a lion, a boot, a head, or a queen with her crown. The park is home to several species of lemurs, birds, reptiles, insects and amphibians, many of which are endemic. As for the flora, it is probably as varied as the various spaces that make up the Isalo: a dry and thorny forest, kilometers of savanna, then a lush vegetation. Do not forget to bring your swimsuit, the park also houses extraordinary natural pools.
